Did Brittany Murphy Die of Natural Causes?

Brittany Murphy would have turned 36 on Nov. 10, but the ‘Clueless’ and ’8 Mile’ actress — who passed away at home in L.A. on Dec. 20, 2009 — isn’t resting in peace. A new investigation into her death, launched by her father, Angelo Bertolotti, suggests she may not have died of natural causes, as the coroner initially claimed.

Bertolotti believes his daughter was poisoned, even though the initial investigation concluded that Murphy, and her husband, Simon Monjack (who died five months later at the same home), both passed away due to pneumonia and anemia.

Brit’s dad fought for years to get samples of her hair, blood and tissue for independent testing, since Murphy and Monjack exhibited symptoms consistent with poisoning and the coroner’s office admitted it did not test for poison at the time of death. He ordered testing for heavy metal and toxins.

According to the Examiner, which has posted the lab report, results suggest that high levels of toxins were in Murphy’s system.

It read as follows:

“Ten (10) of the heavy metals evaluated were detected at levels higher that the WHO [The World Health Organization] high levels. Testing the hair strand sample identified as ‘back of the head’ we have detected ten (10) heavy metals at levels above the WHO high levels recommendation. If we were to eliminate the possibility of a simultaneous accidental heavy metals exposure to the sample donor then the only logical explanation would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third party perpetrator with likely criminal intent.”

Heavy metals are often found in rodenticides, which are used to kill vermin, as well as insecticides. This report sounds like intentional poisoning is a possibility.

When one is suffering from heavy metal poisoning, they are often plagued with headaches, dizziness, neurological and gastrointestinal problems. Murphy and her husband both suffered from these symptoms before their deaths.

The plot certainly thickens in this case. R.I.P., Brittany.
