How do you scare away Somali pirates? Apparently by playing some of Britney Spears music! ”Oops! I Did It Again” and “Baby One More Time” are used to scare away Somali pirates who might otherwise be tempted to attack merchant navy ships off Africa’s east coast. The music is blasted at high volumes with the speakers aimed directly at the pirates.

According to officer, Rachel Owens: ”These guys can’t stand Western culture or music, making Britney’s hits perfect”!

The east African coast is a hot spot for pirates desperate to board ships and kidnap crews for ransoms.
