Todd County High School in Mission was under lockdown from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police and the school have different versions of the cause of the lockdown.

Superintendent Roger Bordeaux said “there was something that happened last night. I can’t reveal that yet. It didn’t happen at school but in another community.”

Bordeaux and school staff said everyone at the school was safe.

However, Rosebud Sioux Tribal law enforcement dispatch received a call approximately 9:30 a.m. today (Tuesday) regarding a possible firearm at Todd County High School in Mission.

Acting RST police chief Iver Crow Eagle, III said officers responded immediately and checked the school for weapons, finding done. He said RST police would stay at the school through the day to provide additional security.

Crow Eagle said he did not know of any incident last night that Todd County Schools superintendent Roger Bordeaux mentioned.

Crow Eagle said his department would issue a written report about the incident.
