More clean up is needed in Delmont. Thus heavy equipment and trailers will be brought to town for debris removal purposes.

As a result parts of the city will be closed to vehicle and foot traffic for two days this week. Officials say the closure of some parts of Delmont is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

Removal of large debris from the May 10 tornado will be intensified during those two days with the closure mainly for safety reasons. Already burning is prohibited within Delmont city limits until further notice.

In addition, the Volunteer Reception Center will also close during the debris removal effort. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says the center will reopen Friday.

More volunteer help will be needed this coming weekend so the center will reopen at 8:00 AM Friday and also be open 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday at the baseball field located at the south end of the community. Those volunteering are asked to come into Delmont on Highway 18.

The Donations Management Center, located at the Delmont American Legion Hall, will remain open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. every day. For the victims cash donations would still be the preferred way to provide assistance.
