Race number ten for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2016 was run on Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. The race was intense and full of action, too much action to be putting it lightly.

The winner, after all the smoke cleared, was Brad Keselowski. A close finish capped off the day with a 1/10 of a second margin of victory.

Severe weather was lingering and the threat of rain increasing by the halfway point of the race. And a series of multiple car crashes involving drivers being evaluated and released by the infield care center marred the event.

As far as the weather interfering, we survived that with all 188 laps running. But the same couldn’t be said about the race cars.

My pick, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was affected by two crashes and went to the garage early. The one that sent him in was when Carl Edwards had issues with Jr. and slammed him into the wall, taking both cars out.

Rookie Chris Buescher took a scary, rolling tumble on the backstretch in a seven-car incident on Lap 94 that also resulted in a hard hit for Michael Annett.

Matt Kenseth went airborne and Danica Patrick took at a hard hit in a seven car wreck late in the race with seven laps to go. Two race contenders, Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano were smacked in that one.

Big trouble on lap 159 with Kurt Busch bumping Jimmie Johnson, causing him to slide in front of a large group of cars and take out half the field. Twenty one cars were included in some way with that pileup.

Keselowski, in the Team Penske number 2 Ford, came in at the finish just ahead of Kyle Busch. Austin Dillon was third, Chase Elliott fourth and Jamie McMurray fifth. See where your driver finished at.
