Blue Angels’ Have Their First Female Pilot
They've been around for the past since 1946, entertaining million of American fans with there amazing aerial displays. An estimated 11 million spectators view the squadron during air shows each full year. However, in the nearly 70 years the outfit has existed, there’s never been a female member – that is, until now.
Marine Captain Katie Higgins is the first woman Blue Angels demonstration pilot in history. She has flown in almost 400 combat hours in support of numerous operations including exercises in Afghanistan, France, Greece, and South Sudan.
has been assigned the Blue Angels’ C-130 aircraft, otherwise known as “Fat Albert.”
