Brent Hayes has a unique way of thanking the doctor who saved his knee. The southwestern Ohio man rode his bike 1,100 miles to pay tribute to the surgeon who performed two risky operations. Dr. Dror Paley corrected a leg deformity caused by bone cancer early in life.

Hayes decided to go ahead with the surgery, even though the doctor warned he could lose the leg. Hayes tells an Ohio newspaper (Athens Messenger) the marathon bike ride was the best way he could think of to thank the doctor.
