The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for The Big Sioux River at Western Avenue. At 2am Sunday the river was at 10.4 feet, flood stage is 10.0. City parks are especially subject to flooding.

"VERY HEAVY RAINFALL HAS OCCURRED ACROSS THE AREA OVER THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE GENERALLY BETWEEN 3 AND 5 INCHES WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS CLOSE TO 6 INCHES. ADDITIONAL PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN ARE LIKELY OVER THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS. RAPID RISES ON THE BIG SIOUX RIVER AT WESTERN AVE HAVE BEEN OBSERVED...WITH MINOR FLOODING CURRENTLY OCCURRING."

Don't drive through flooded areas, you can't tell how deep the water is or the condition of the road under the water.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect.
