Best Advice Ever: Laugh Loud and Laugh Often
When’s the last time you had a good belly laugh? I mean to the point where you were literally in tears? “A long time,” you say – sounds to me like you may be due.
My Grandpa Lessman was a big proponent of “laughing loud and laughing often.” He was a big ol’ German who could laugh from the bottom of his belly unlike any other.
When he laughed everyone in the room knew it. Which, at first, kind of bothered me because everyone would turn around and look at him – and me.
But it didn’t take long for me to realize that it wasn’t because they were annoyed by grandpa’s laugh, but instead wished they had a reason to laugh just like him.
And you want to know the cool part? – I’m just like him, I love to laugh. It doesn’t matter where I’m at or who I’m with, there’s nothing quite like a hearty laugh.
One of my fondest memories is when my grandpa was younger he taught all us grandkids how to do a laughing chain. If you’ve never done one before you need to.
You have one person lay down in the grass, the next person then lays their head on the first person’s belly. The third person then lays their head on the second person and so on.
And then the fun begins. You whisper something funny into the ear of the first person and watch the laughs move down the line. You really do need to try it sometime.
My point here is, we all need to lighten up and stop taking life so seriously. Like my Grandpa Lessman used to say, “No one gets out alive anyways – just as well have fun.”
So the next time you’re with family or friends, try the laughing chain. You won’t regret it – plus you’ll be creating a wonderful memory for everyone involved.
