Hi, Ben here, and I’m on a mission to not be fat when I turn 42. To do that I’ve partnered with Profile by Sanford and I want to take you with me on my journey.

This has truly been one of the toughest things I have ever done, and I'm from from being done. My Journey with Profile is becoming a defining moment in my life. There is a clear demarcation between two people, me befor and me now.

I have lost quite a bit of weight, at least 40 pounds at last count. But, I also am learning so much. First I had to face myself. With the help of my Profile coaches, I had to attack the parts of me that were doing this myself. Why did I put on the weight? What triggers those actions? Then we had to make a plan to overcome them.

The real challenge then began as I implemented the changes into my life. I had no idea how ingrained the bad habits were. I had to learn how to be a whole new person to shake off the weight in the long run.

At the same time I was getting my mind right, I was slimming down. I learned that it'd take constant vigilance and mindfulness on my part to keep on track. But, because of those efforts; and the many failures and setback along the way; I am ingraining new, good, habits into my brain. I am not missing out on anything, I am gaining so much. Just not the weight.

when I ran the numbers and saw that 40 pounds was gone I was blown away. My self-image is still broken enough that I still avoid mirrors and have a had time seeing a change in me, but people I trust tell me it is real. And if i drop the attitude, I see it too, in the way my coat fits, my pants and the way my glasses don't sink into an envelope of flesh behind my ears.

I wanted to really get a sense of the weight that is gone. So I looked up some comparisons. Here are things that weigh 40 pounds (I didn't weight any of this stuff in real life, just found the numbers online, so let's not get too caught up in specifics):

OK, seeing that is a nice bit of inspiration to keep going on my Profile Journey!
