Last week at the University of Arizona-UNLV football game in Tuscon, AZ, a beach ball was getting batted around the stadium. Lots of people are getting involved and hitting it up into the air. Then one guy catches the ball, places it at his feet and stomps it to deflate the ball and the fun.

I'm glad he did it

You can call me a grumpy old man if you want, but I don't like going to games and having a beach ball flying by my face. I go to games to watch the game. Whenever a beach ball starts flying around the section you have to watch where it's going. You can't help it. It's distracting.

I went to a Vikings game at the Metrodome a few years ago and a ball was flying around the section. The ball hit me in the back of the head, which didn't hurt, but annoyed me immensely. Then I'm watching the ball fly around and missed the Vikings recording a sack. I was pissed. I like watching the game, not watching beach balls.

That said, if this guy in Arizona did this during halftime, then I agree with those who think he's a jerk. At halftime there's not much going on. If there was a beach ball flying around, I'd probably join in. There was a beach ball flying around the Pepsi Center in Denver when I went to Motley Crue. It was after Alice Cooper and before Motley took the stage. I didn't mind. It was a distraction from the boredom of watching roadies set up equipment. It's not clear if the game was going on or if it was halftime. If it happened during halftime, he's a jerk. If it happened during the game, I applaud him.
