Maybe it (allegedly) runs in the family. As the number of women accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment, assault and rape continues to grow, his brother Bob has picked up an allegation of his own: Amanda Segel, a showrunner and executive producer on The Mist, has accused Bob Weinstein of sexual harassment while in production on the now-defunct Spike TV series.
Today, The New York Times published an exposé detailing numerous sexual assault and harassment allegations leveled against Harvey Weinstein, co-founder of Miramax and The Weinstein Co. Although Weinstein disputes the allegations, which date back decades, he has announced his intention to take a leave of absence from the distribution company to focus on therapy and to “deal with this issue head on.”
After years of writing some of the best screenplays and television scripts, Aaron Sorkin is finally, um, trying his hand at directing with Molly’s Game. Inspired by a true story, and based on the book all about it, Sorkin’s debut has already garnered a fair amount of critical praise — much of which punctuates the second trailer for the new film, headlined by the great Jessica Chastain as the titular Molly.
If you read a headline today about how much Tommy Lee Jones hated working with Jim Carrey in Batman Forever and thought it sounded familiar, that’s because you’ve definitely heard this one before. Back in 2014, Carrey made an appearance on Howard Stern’s show, where he revealed that the famously prickly Jones was extra-prickly on the set of Joel Schumacher’s notorious Batman sequel. Apparently Carrey still isn’t over it because he re-told the story on this week’s episode of Norm Macdonald Live. In honor (?) of Carrey’s inability to just let this one go already, here are 20 more co-stars who really couldn’t stand working together.
Paddington is back in the new trailer for his incredibly charming and very British sequel — well, mostly charming. Everyone’s favorite Marmalade-loving bear is pleasantly minding his own pleasant business when an evil actor (Hugh Grant; no, really) frames him for a crime he did not commit and it is decidedly very UNPLEASANT. Dastardly deeds aside, the trailer for Paddington 2 promises a sequel every bit as charming as its predecessor.
What happens when you take the classic “boy has a crush on his hot babysitter” trope, add some ritual human sacrifice, a bunch of blood and gore, and a dose of humor? You get The Babysitter. The first trailer for the new film from McG (who hasn’t directed a feature since 2014’s forgettable 3 Days to Kill) looks like his most entertaining project in ages, and it’s coming to Netflix next week.
Don Rickles’ talents were seemingly limitless: An outrageous insult comic, a gifted dramatic actor, a welcome sight on stages and screens (big and small), and a constant presence whose career endured for decades, often surpassing his contemporaries. And now he’s gone on to join them, as the legendary Rickles passed away today, April 6, at the age of 90.
With Paul Feig at the helm and a quartet of hilarious women who are great at improvising, it’s not surprising that the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of the Ghostbusters reboot is packed with additional scenes, outtakes, deleted scenes, gag reels and — as many fans hoped — an extended cut of the film. We won’t have a chance to see any of these bonus materials until October, but it should be interesting for those who felt as though Feig’s theatrical version may have been a little too safe.
Despite mixed reviews, The Angry Birds Movie was pretty successful at the box office, thanks to an early summer release date, a solid voice cast and an established franchise with a strong fan base. As you might have guessed, the animated adaptation of the hit video game series was successful enough to warrant a sequel, and if you’re rolling your eyes at the prospect, just remember that we’ve gotten sequels to movies that were far worse than this one, based on much less success.
We have another update on Vin Diesel courtesy of Vin Diesel, your source for all the latest Vin Diesel news. No, it’s not more Fast 8 drama (#candyassgate was tragically short-lived), but it does involve another major franchise. According to Diesel, Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord won’t be the only Guardian of the Galaxy to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, as the actor claims that the whole team will be joining their occasionally fearless leader for the upcoming MCU event.
