I couldn't stand it when I was a kid. I didn't like it at all. Now it's probably one of my favorite vegetables. Asparagus. Yep, that asparagus time of year is here.

You've probably run across it in the store already. Usually you start seeing more of it around St. Patricks Day. And if you have a sharp eye and a good memory and your travels take you down rural roads you might even see it in the ditches.

Asparagus is good and good for you! According to eatingwell.com:

 The most common type of asparagus is green, but you might see two others in supermarkets and restaurants: white, which is more delicate and difficult to harvest, and purple, which is smaller and fruitier in flavor. No matter the type you choose, asparagus is a tasty, versatile vegetable that can be cooked in myriad ways or enjoyed raw in salads.
