AMC posted an apology on "The Walking Dead" Facebook page yesterday in the wake of posting a huge spoiler on social media sites immediately following the east coast airing of the mid-season finale.

We heard your feedback to last night’s post, and we’re sorry. With zero negative intent, we jumped the gun and put up a spoiler. Please know we’re going to work to ensure that, in the future, possible spoilers by official AMC social feeds are killed before they can infect, certainly before the West Coast (U.S.) broadcast of The Walking Dead. As always, thank you for watching, and keep the comments coming. We appreciate all of your support. #RIPSpoiler

The spoiler posted immediately after the first airing of the episode, and before the west coast had a chance to see it, showed the image of Daryl Dixon walking out of the hospital with the limp body of Beth Greene in his arms after she was shot in the head by Dawn.

The post was later taken down after many complaints and reposted after the west coast airing, which is like putting new batteries in a smoke detector after the house burned down.
