I finally got a chance to watch the rest of the first season on FX's The Bridge on Hulu. Which, BTW, I highly recommend. It's a very exciting take on the cops and criminals procedural. It takes place in the El Paso/Juarez boarder area in Texas and Mexico. The characters are interesting; the main plot and subplots are engaging and tie together nicely; and the locations are fascinating.

The first season ended with a cliffhanger that sets up an exciting second season that starts later this summer. The first season finale also introduced me to my latest music discovery, a band named Metalachi! Near the end of the episode there's a montage of things happening (no spoilers) with a mariachi infused cover of Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer. Just like when Breaking Bad introduced me to Anita Tijoux, I had to pause the show and hit the internet to find this band and more of their music.

The LA based group call themselves the world's first and only Heavy Metal Mariachi band. Their album Uno is full of covers of songs from Alice in Chains, Ozzy, Led Zeppelin and more.

The violin, guitar and trumpet sounds and the Rock and Roll energy combine to create a sound that's familiar and unique. At first it seems like a novelty, but quickly you hear it as a perfect interpretation of the music. On top of everything it is super fun!

Here's one more performance.
