A Cancer Setback for Jack Hoffman from ‘Team Jack’

It's been a little more than a year since little Jack Hoffman literally ran his way into the hearts of America, when he scored a touchdown in the 2013 Nebraska spring football game.

The same legions of 'Team Jack' fans who cheered the exploits of the pediatric cancer patient that day in Lincoln are now dealing with disappointment.

Jack's cancer, in remission last year, is back.

This week, Jack, who's now 8, learned that his tumor has grown since an April MRI, and might need surgery and more chemotherapy.

Jack’s father, Andy, provided an update on Caring Bridge:

Today we were humbly reminded that when your child has an inoperable brain tumor, that anything can happen at any point in time. Despite Jack’s tumor being declared in remission (stable) last October, today we learned that that is no longer the case. While we left Boston in April with the knowledge that there was a 'spot of concern', we nonetheless remained optimistic that it was just nothing.

Jack was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 5.  After his dramatic TD run last April, he went on to win an ESPY and meet President Obama.

Last night, the Hoffmans were in Kansas City watching former Cornhusker - and Jack's favorite player - Rex Burkhead and his new team,the Cincinnati Bengals, battle the Chiefs in a NFL pre-season game.
