Today's song for 5 Seconds to Cash was Skee-Lo "I Wish."

We did not have a winner today so the jackpot will grow to $40 on Monday December 17!

Skee-Lo, whose real name is Antoine Roundtree, had his biggest hit in 1995 with this song. "I Wish" peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on August 14, 1995. The album of the same name was certified Gold on November 16 of that same year. It was nominated for the Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1996 Grammys. It lost out on the award to Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise."

Skee-Lo was also a cautionary tale for those new to the music business. He should have owned all of his publishing rights because he wrote and produced all of his own music. His the parent company of his label at the time, Sunshine Records, claimed they held the publishing rights. That meant every time the song was used played on the radio, or used in a movie, Sunshine got the money. After 10 year legal battle he finally had his publishing rights restored.
