A Sioux Falls construction worker is recovering in the hospital after a strong wind guest forced a 40-ton concrete wall to fall on his legs and pinned him to the ground.

The accident happened around 11 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016, at a construction site located near Marion Road and Ebenezer Avenue in Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls Police, Paramedics, and Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and found a man pinned under the wall from the waist down. The victim was trapped underneath the wall for about 45 minutes before being pulled to safety.

Brad Goodroad with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue said a strong wind gust knocked the wall down. The man, who has not been identified was taken to the hospital. There is no word on the extent of his injuries, but rescuers say the man's legs were crushed pretty badly by the wall.

The victim was working on an elevated platform at the time of the accident, according to a statement released from Ryan Companies who operates the site.
