The results of a New Year's Eve saturation patrol by Sioux Falls Police are similar to those of a year earlier.

Lieutenant Jerome Miller says 14 additional officers were working between 8pm Tuesday and 4am Wednesday, and he says police made nine DWI arrests and wrote 152 citations.

Miller says the list of citations included 23 for speeding, 26 for no proof of insurance, 11 alcohol violations--typically an open container--and 39 citations were written in what are known as "complaint zones."

One of the DWI arrests stemmed from a fatal two-vehicle crash around 1:30am Wednesday at the intersection of East 10th Street and Sycamore Avenue.

During the New Year's Eve celebrations a year ago, Miller says officers wrote 155 citations and made 14 DWI arrests.
