Police say several members of a Sioux Falls family were involved in an incident that ended with one facing charges.

Officer Sam Clemens says a husband and wife and their two children, an 11-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl, were at home Monday evening. Clemens says the woman was upset with her husband's drinking, so she poured his liquor down the drain, and the man reacted by forcing his wife into the bedroom and getting on top of her.

"I'm not sure what he was trying to do, but he was actually forcing her mouth open. She thought her jaw was going to break because he was opening it so much," explained Clemens. "The 11-year-old came in and was trying to get dad off of mom. [The 11-year-old] ended up getting a golf club and hitting him in the back. Once he did that then dad turned his attention on his son and started pushing him around, pushing him against the wall. The report said he pushed him so hard into the wall it left bruises on his back."

Clemens says after the son took a steak knife and stabbed his father in the arm, the woman and her children were able to get out of the apartment and have a neighbor call police.

He says 50-year-old Randall Scott Flack was arrested for simple assault-domestic and felony child abuse.
