So, I've lived in Sioux Falls almost six years now and I feel like I've explored the city and what it has to offer slowly, but surely.

But when I really sat down and thought about it, there is a lot that I have not done here in the Sioux Empire. Now, I mean no offense to the places, people, and things that I haven't done here in Sioux Falls, but sometimes life gets in the way and I don't make it to an event. Or sometimes, the stuff is outside and it's hot and I'm more of an indoor person. Anyway, here we go.

1. Enjoy the Bike Trail

I feel I have a legit reason for this. I don't own a bike. I know I could walk it or rent a bike, but here is my other 'thing' with the bike trail. I don't understand the idea of taking my bike, loading it up, driving it somewhere, and then riding it. If I had a bike, why can't I just ride it around my neighborhood. Seems like a lot of work.

2. Outdoor Campus

Well, anyone that listens to the show knows that the fact 'outdoor' is in the title is reason enough for me to stay away. However, I know Thea from the Outdoor Campus and she's a lovely woman. I know Outdoor Campus has archery and I don't mean to gloat, but I did win an archery tournament in P.E. in high school.

3. Butterfly House

I have no reason for never having been. It sounds lovely and I look forward to checking it out someday.

4. Bob's Drive-In

Now, I haven't actually been in Bob's. I know it is a small establishment and there are a few seats at a counter, from what I've heard. And now that I think about it, we may have had Bob's brought in to work for lunch before so I may have eaten it without knowing. But I most definitely am willing to try it.

5. Jazzfest

Again, no offense to the people who put Jazzfest together, but it usually lands on the hottest day of the year and I don't enjoy sweating just from breathing. Also, in my old age, I'm not a huge fan of crowds. Sometimes I will endure them for an act I really want to see, but (again sorry to the Jazzfest people) Jazzfest hasn't brought in a lot of acts that are up my alley. The year Sheryl Crow was here, I wanted to go, but I ended up being out of town. Super bummed. Maybe this year.

6. Parade of Lights

This event happens in the winter and I've always wanted to attend, but unlike Jazzfest it's usually on the coldest day of the year. Maybe this year.

7. Kirby Science Discovery Center

I've been to the Washington Pavilion loads of times and the Cinedome once, but never the Science Center. I guess my only excuse for this is that I assumed it's something for kids and I don't have any, but I'm basically 12 inside so I think I'd enjoy it.

8. Thunder Road

No good excuse for this one. I guess I just haven't found a worthy opponent to take on in go-karts!

9. Any of the Corn Mazes

Don't have a good reason for this one either. Maybe it's something in my self-conscious from seeing Children of the Corn and living 30 minutes from Whiting, IA, where some scenes were filmed. Scary. But, I'm willing to face my fears. Maybe this year.

10. Japanese Gardens

I kind of forgot it existed. I lived here like six months before I finally asked where the Falls were that gave Sioux Falls its name so I guess I just lacked motivation to check out the gardens. So where is it again?

I henceforth commit to trying to do all these things on this list!

Is there something I missed that I should check out? Let me know.
